Accurate calculation of reinforcement in the building plays an important role in the over all costing of the project. The estimation of the reinforcement is made from the drawings and bar bending schedule.in the cases where there is no availability of drawings and schedules, the quantity is normally described in accordance with the requirements of the Standard method of measurement of building works.

We offer structural steel design and detailing solutions . Our professional designers can handle complex structural design projects efficiently using the latest American or British design codes. Whereas design is the creative process of taking an idea from conception and putting that concept to paper for the purpose of manufacture, detailing, on the other hand, is the first practical step of steel fabrication and as such is critical to the construction program.

Steel Designing

Using the latest design software and latest US and BS codes our engineering staff can handle all aspects of designing a project, from bidding to estimating, to detailing and phasing project management. And from an experience standpoint, we’ve helped in the past, contractors and owners in the design of all types of structural projects.

steel fabricators use a variety of techniques to turn basic steel sections into predefined shapes, ready to be implemented in construction. Fabricators work closely alongside steel detailers and drafters, who provide detailed drawings and designs which fabricators essentially bring to life. This requires a keen eye for details, an array of tools and techniques, and an extensive knowledge on the properties of steel. Steel products need to arrive on site ready to install and thus need to be manufactured with complete precision by the steel fabricator.

Paint is the most commonly used material to protect steel. Paint systems for steel structures have developed over the years to comply with industrial environmental legislation and in response to demands from bridge and building owners for improved durability performance. Previous five and six coat systems have been replaced by typically three coat alternatives, and the latest formulations have focussed on application in even fewer numbers of coats, but with increasing individual film thickness. Examples of this are epoxy and polyester glass flake coatings that are designed for high build thickness in one or two coat applications, and single coat high build elastomeric urethane coatings, up to 1000μm thick.

Welding & Surface Preparation

Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by using high heat to melt the parts together and allowing them to cool causing fusion. Welding is distinct from lower temperature metal-joining techniques such as brazing and soldering, which do not melt the base metal.

In addition to melting the base metal, a filler material is typically added to the joint to form a pool of molten material (the weld pool) that cools to form a joint that, based on weld configuration (butt, full penetration, fillet, etc.), can be stronger than the base material (parent metal). Pressure may also be used in conjunction with heat, or by itself, to produce a weld. Welding also requires a form of shield to protect the filler metals or melted metals from being contaminated or oxidized.

Surface Preparation and Painting:

SteelTec Industries has extremely advanced surface preparation and paint systems. Our new state of the art facility consists of surface cleaning using a six-wheel Automatic Shot Blasting machine. This machine can give a surface finish of brush blast, Swedish standards SA 2½ and white blast. Other features and benefits include:

  • 7000 square feet totally enclosed, fully controlled exhaust air filtering system giving 60 air changes per hour in order to preserve environment.
  • Indoor painting booth.
  • Weather is not a factor for this facility.
  • Hot dip galvanizing can be easily done at our neighboring companies.
  • Two remote controlled cranes for handling painted materials.

These advanced facilities at the painting area enable painters perform their tasks in a professional manner.

Within the guidelines for structural tests and inspections, various physical and mechanical properties of the finished steel product, various destructive and non-destructive tests, are performed.

Metallurgical, hardness, hardenability, tension, ductility, compression, fatigue, impact, wear, corrosion, creep, machinability, radiography, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, and eddy current are some of the major tests that can be performed by our quality control personnel.
